Closing the Eyes during Prayer
Question:
What is the ruling on closing the eyes during prayer?
Answer:
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) used to say: “Every newly-invented thing is a bid`ah (innovation), every bid`ah is a misguidance, and every misguidance will be in the fire.” (Al-Nasa’i)
Are you allowed to close your eyes while praying? Do you find it in the Sunnah of the Prophet?
