Time for Tahajjud
Question:
What is the time for tahajjud? Is it important to sleep before offering the night Prayer?
Answer:
Night prayer includes any prayer performed after `Ishaa’ time. The time for performing the night vigil (tahajjud) prayer ends when `Ishaa’ time ends and Fajr (Dawn) time enters.
Allah Almighty ordered His Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) to offer prayer at night and recite the Qur’an in his tahajjud.
Almighty Allah says:
And from [part of] the night, pray with it as additional [worship] for you; it is expected that your Lord will resurrect you to a praised station. (Al-Isra’ 17:79)
