Neglecting Prayer in Masjid Out of Fear of Coronavirus

What is the ruling of avoiding Masjid and Jumu`ah (Friday Prayer) out of fear of coronavirus?

Answer:

The Assembly of Muslim Jurists of America (AMJA) has released a statement about this issue. Unless there is health advisory announcement you cannot stop going for Prayer or for Jumu`ah to the masjid.

If you have flu like symptoms then it is better for you to stay at home. There is leniency and exceptions for the elderly, those who are more prone to catching this virus and those who have less immunity.

It is recommended to abide by the formal instructions to avoid catching and spread the new coronavirus.
