{"id":9112,"date":"2025-12-16T05:37:26","date_gmt":"2025-12-16T05:37:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/imuslim.us\/?p=9112"},"modified":"2025-12-16T05:37:26","modified_gmt":"2025-12-16T05:37:26","slug":"praying-the-sunnah-of-fajr-before-adhan-permissible","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/imuslim.us\/?p=9112","title":{"rendered":"Praying the Sunnah of Fajr Before Adhan: Permissible?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Praying the Sunnah of Fajr Before Adhan: Permissible?<\/h2>\n<h3><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;font-size: 14pt;color: #800080\"><strong>Question:<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;font-size: 14pt\">What is the ruling of offering the <em>sunnah (nafl)<\/em> prayer of <em>Fajr<\/em> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.prayerinislam.com\/guide-to-prayer\/virtues-fajr-prayer\/\">Dawn) Prayer<\/a> before the <em>adhan<\/em> (call of prayer)?<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;font-size: 14pt;color: #800080\"><strong>Answer:<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;font-size: 14pt\">`A&#8217;ishah (May Allah be pleased with her) narrated: &#8220;The Prophet (peace be upon him) did not attach more importance to any <em>sunnah<\/em> prayer than the two <em>rak&#8217;ahs<\/em> of prayer before dawn (Fajr) prayer.&#8221; (Agreed Upon)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;font-size: 14pt\">In another <em>hadith<\/em> also narrated by `A&#8217;ishah (May Allah be pleased with her), &#8220;The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, the two<em> rak`ahs<\/em> before the dawn (Fajr) prayer are better than this world and all it contains.&#8221; (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.the-faith.com\/islamic-history\/muslim-figures\/imam-muslim-leading-scholar-hadith\/\">Muslim<\/a>)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;font-size: 14pt\">The time for a <em>Sunnah<\/em> prayer that comes before the obligatory prayer does not begin until the time for that prayer begins.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;font-size: 14pt\">Ibn Qudamah said in Al-Mughni: &#8220;The time for every Sunnah prayer that comes before an obligatory prayer lasts from when the time for that prescribed prayer begins until it is done.
