Should elbows of a woman touch the ground as I read in many books of Fiqh (jurisprudence)?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Answer:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Abu Sulaiman and Malik ibn Al-Huwairith narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, \u201cOffer your prayers in the way you saw me offering my prayers, and when the stated time for the prayer becomes due, then one of you should pronounce its call (i.e. the <em>Adhan<\/em>), and the eldest of you should lead you in prayer.\u201d (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.the-faith.com\/islamic-history\/albukhari-the-imam-of-hadith-and-sunnah\/\">Al-Bukhari<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>The command in the <em>hadith<\/em> was given to the whole Ummah, both men and women alike. There are no single prophetic traditions that single out women with specific instructions regarding prayer other than the place.\u00a0 It was narrated that Umm Humaid, the wife of Abu Humaid Al-Sa`di came to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.the-faith.com\/category\/prophet-muhammad\/\">the Prophet M<\/a>uhammad\u00a0(peace be upon him) and said, \u201cO Messenger of Allah, I like to pray with you.\u201d He said, \u201cI know that you like to pray with me, but your prayer in your room is better for you than your prayer in your courtyard and your prayer in your courtyard is better for you than your praying in your house, and your prayer in your house is better for you than your prayer in the mosque of your people\u2026\u201d (Ahmad)<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, women should offer prayer in the same manner as men. They should raise their hands out of the ground.
