Scholars have differed about the time of making <em>qunut<\/em> whether it is before or after <em>ruku`<\/em> (bowing). Most scholars of <em>hadith<\/em> such as Imam Ahmad and others see that it is allowed in both cases. But they said that it is preferred after the bowing because it is mentioned more often.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000\"><strong>Regarding raising hands during supplication <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The majority of scholars have agreed that it is not only permissible, but also recommended to raise hands while offering <em>qunut<\/em>. There is a general <em>hadith<\/em> narrated by Salman (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: \u201cYour Lord, may He be blessed and exalted, is Kind and Most Generous, and He is too kind to let His slave, if he raises his hands (palms facing the sky) to Him, bring them back empty.\u201d (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.the-faith.com\/featured\/abu-dawud-the-faqih-and-scholar-of-hadith\/\">Abu Dawud<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>Responding to the above mentioned question, Dr. Muhammad Salah said that raising hands in prayer is only in one case, that it is the supplication of <em>qunut<\/em>. It is allowed before and after bowing.
