{"id":665,"date":"2025-09-18T03:37:22","date_gmt":"2025-09-18T03:37:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/imuslim.us\/?p=665"},"modified":"2025-09-18T03:37:22","modified_gmt":"2025-09-18T03:37:22","slug":"holding-quran-during-non-obligatory-prayers-allowed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/imuslim.us\/?p=665","title":{"rendered":"Holding Quran During Non-Obligatory Prayers: Allowed?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Holding Quran During Non-Obligatory Prayers<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Ibn Qudamah (may Allah have mercy on him) said in <i> Al-Mughni<\/i>, Ahmad said: &#8220;There is nothing wrong will leading the people in praying <em>qiyam<\/em> whilst looking at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.learning-quran.com\/about-the-quran\/reciting-quran-memory-mushaf-better\/\"><em>Mushaf<\/em><\/a>. It was said to him: What about obligatory prayers? He said: I have not heard anything concerning that. Al-Qadi said: It is <em>makruh <\/em>(disliked) in obligatory prayers, but there is nothing wrong with it in voluntary prayers if one has not memorized (Qur\u2019an), but if one has memorized Qur\u2019an then it is also <em>makruh<\/em>. He said: Ahmad was asked about leading the prayers whilst reading from the <em>Mushaf<\/em> in Ramadan. He said: If that is necessary (it may be done)\u2026 and it was narrated from Ibn Hamid that it is equally permissible in both nafil and obligatory prayers.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>A great number of people would like to hold a copy of the Qur&#8217;an when praying for instance, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.prayerinislam.com\/fatwas-rulings\/holding-a-translation-of-the-quran-during-tarawih\/\"><em>tarawih<\/em><\/a>.
