Combining Prayers for Those Suffering from Urine Incontinence: Permissible?<\/h2>\n

Question:\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

Could one offer prayer without taharah<\/em> (purification)? What is the ruling of making Salah for one who suffers from urine incontinence?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Answer:<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

In the name of\u00a0Allah<\/a>, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright.<\/span><\/p>\n

Taharah<\/em> (purification) is a prerequisite for the validity of prayer. It was narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Allah does not accept the prayer of any of you if he breaks his wudu<\/em>, unless he does wudu<\/em> again.” (Agreed Upon)<\/span><\/p>\n

In another haidth, `Abdullah ibn `Umar said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say: “No prayer is accepted without purification.” (Muslim)\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Those who have a valid excuse, such as those suffering from irregular vaginal bleeding, or urinary incontinence, or continual discharge of prostatic fluid, or a wound which will not stop bleeding etc. The one who is unable to maintain his state of purity for the length of a prayer should make wu\u1e0du (ablution)<\/em>\u2019 and then pray and he is not affected by anything which may exit from him during the prayer, and indeed his wu\u1e0du<\/em>\u00a0is not invalidated by that according to the consensus of the scholars \u2013 in actual fact the most being upon him is to make wu\u1e0du<\/em><\/a>\u00a0for every prayer.<\/span><\/p>\n

Allah Almighty says, “Allah does not burden a soul more than it can bear.\u201d (Al-Baqarah: 286)<\/span><\/p>\n

It is permissible according to the majority of the scholars to combine between two prayers for a valid reason, to the extent that it is permissible to combine for the sick person, the one suffering from isti\u1e25a\u1e0dah<\/em> (irregular bleeding) and others with similar excuses as per the most obvious and correct position from the scholars.<\/span><\/p>\n
