Observing khushu` (humility) during prayer.<\/p>\n
Question: <\/strong><\/p>\n I always forget how many rak`ahs<\/em> (unit of prayer) I offered during my prayer. It happens nearly all the time and it is frustrating. It is due to lack of humility so how could I observe khush`<\/em> (humility) while offering prayer?<\/p>\n Answer: <\/strong><\/p>\n Almighty Allah says,<\/p>\n Certainly will the believers have succeeded. They who are during their prayer humbly submissive.<\/strong> (Al-Mu\u2019minun<\/a> 23: 1-2)<\/p>\n Kushu`<\/em> (humility) is the submissiveness found in the heart due to the consciousness of Allah\u2019s greatness and mighty. It is the key of acceptance for one\u2019s prayer. The believer should offer prayer between fear and hope as it is the last prayer in this world. Abu Ayyub narrated said that \u201cA man came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and said: \u2018O Messenger of Allah, teach me but make it concise.\u2019 He said: \u2018When you stand to pray, pray like a man bidding farewell.\u201d (Ibn Majah<\/a>)<\/p>\n Responding to this question, Dr. Muhammad Salah states that keep forgetting how many rak`ahs or which surahs were recited is due to the lack of humility in prayer. He says that is hard for anyone to have full concentration from the begging of prayer to the end. But a believer should do his best to maintain humility.
