{"id":2250,"date":"2025-09-30T02:40:08","date_gmt":"2025-09-30T02:40:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/imuslim.us\/?p=2250"},"modified":"2025-09-30T02:40:08","modified_gmt":"2025-09-30T02:40:08","slug":"merits-prostration-prayer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/imuslim.us\/?p=2250","title":{"rendered":"Merits of Prostration in Prayer"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_570\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.prayerinislam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/Prostration-in-Prayer.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-570\" class=\" wp-image-570 \" title=\"Prostration in Prayer\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.prayerinislam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/Prostration-in-Prayer-300x200.jpg?resize=300%2C200\" alt=\"Someone in Prostration Position \" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-570\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Prayer is nothing but submissiveness, humility, and supplication.<\/p><\/div>\n<h2 class=\"\" data-start=\"530\" data-end=\"574\"><strong data-start=\"533\" data-end=\"574\">Prostration: The Nearest Point to God<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"576\" data-end=\"641\">The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) once said:<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"643\" data-end=\"730\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"645\" data-end=\"730\"><em data-start=\"645\" data-end=\"715\">\u201cThe servant is never closer to God than when he is in prostration.\u201d<\/em><br data-start=\"715\" data-end=\"718\" \/><em data-start=\"720\" data-end=\"730\">(Muslim)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"732\" data-end=\"960\">This moment\u2014when the forehead touches the earth\u2014is the <strong data-start=\"787\" data-end=\"807\">peak of humility<\/strong>, the <strong data-start=\"813\" data-end=\"838\">essence of submission<\/strong>, and the <strong data-start=\"848\" data-end=\"888\">doorway to nearness with our Creator<\/strong>. Sujood is not just a position of the body; it is a state of the heart.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"962\" data-end=\"1002\">The Qur\u2019an echoes this sacred closeness:<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"1004\" data-end=\"1077\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1006\" data-end=\"1077\"><em data-start=\"1006\" data-end=\"1054\">\u201cProstrate yourself and draw near [to Allah].\u201d<\/em><br data-start=\"1054\" data-end=\"1057\" \/><em data-start=\"1059\" data-end=\"1077\">(Al-\u2018Alaq 96:19)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1079\" data-end=\"1143\">Each prostration is a moment of elevation. The Prophet (\ufdfa) said:<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"1145\" data-end=\"1281\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1147\" data-end=\"1281\"><em data-start=\"1147\" data-end=\"1266\">\u201cWhenever a Muslim performs a prostration for God\u2019s sake, God raises him one degree and absolves him of one offence.\u201d<\/em><br data-start=\"1266\" data-end=\"1269\" \/><em data-start=\"1271\" data-end=\"1281\">(Muslim)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1283\" data-end=\"1422\">What greater incentive do we need? Every sujood is a step toward <strong data-start=\"1348\" data-end=\"1360\">Paradise<\/strong>, a shield against <strong data-start=\"1379\" data-end=\"1392\">arrogance<\/strong>, and a <strong data-start=\"1400\" data-end=\"1413\">cleansing<\/strong> of sins.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"\" data-start=\"1424\" data-end=\"1427\" \/>\n<h2 class=\"\" data-start=\"1429\" data-end=\"1463\"><strong data-start=\"1432\" data-end=\"1463\">The Mark of the Worshippers<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1465\" data-end=\"1498\">Allah describes the believers as:<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"1500\" data-end=\"1579\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1502\" data-end=\"1579\"><em data-start=\"1502\" data-end=\"1557\">\u201c\u2026Their foreheads show the mark left by prostration.\u201d<\/em><br data-start=\"1557\" data-end=\"1560\" \/><em data-start=\"1562\" data-end=\"1579\">(Al-Fath 48:29)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1581\" data-end=\"1840\">Some say this refers to the <strong data-start=\"1609\" data-end=\"1626\">physical mark<\/strong>, others to the <strong data-start=\"1642\" data-end=\"1664\">spiritual radiance<\/strong> of humility. But the most beautiful interpretation is that it represents a <strong data-start=\"1740\" data-end=\"1761\">light that shines<\/strong> from their faces on the Day of Judgment, as a result of their sincere worship.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"\" data-start=\"1842\" data-end=\"1845\" \/>\n<h2 class=\"\" data-start=\"1847\" data-end=\"1872\"><strong data-start=\"1850\" data-end=\"1872\">The Devil\u2019s Regret<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1874\" data-end=\"1927\">When a believer prostrates, the Prophet (\ufdfa) tells us:<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"1929\" data-end=\"2107\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1931\" data-end=\"2107\"><em data-start=\"1931\" data-end=\"2092\">\u201cThe devil retreats, weeping, saying: \u2018This man was commanded to prostrate and he obeyed, so Paradise is his. I was commanded and disobeyed, so Hell is mine.\u2019\u201d<\/em><br data-start=\"2092\" data-end=\"2095\" \/><em data-start=\"2097\" data-end=\"2107\">(Muslim)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2109\" data-end=\"2253\">With every sujood, we affirm our obedience to Allah and reject the arrogance of Iblis. We choose humility over pride, submission over rebellion.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"\" data-start=\"2255\" data-end=\"2258\" \/>\n<h2 class=\"\" data-start=\"2260\" data-end=\"2285\"><strong data-start=\"2263\" data-end=\"2285\">Presence in Prayer<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2287\" data-end=\"2439\">But sujood and salah are not just about <strong data-start=\"2327\" data-end=\"2348\">physical movement<\/strong>. They require <strong data-start=\"2363\" data-end=\"2375\">presence<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"2377\" data-end=\"2394\">concentration<\/strong>, and <strong data-start=\"2400\" data-end=\"2422\">heartfelt humility<\/strong>. Allah commands:<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"2441\" data-end=\"2503\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2443\" data-end=\"2503\"><em data-start=\"2443\" data-end=\"2483\">\u201cEstablish prayer for My remembrance.\u201d<\/em><br data-start=\"2483\" data-end=\"2486\" \/><em data-start=\"2488\" data-end=\"2503\">(Ta-Ha 20:14)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2505\" data-end=\"2526\">The Prophet (\ufdfa) said:<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"2528\" data-end=\"2677\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2530\" data-end=\"2677\"><em data-start=\"2530\" data-end=\"2658\">\u201cIf a man performs two cycles of prayer without distraction from any worldly thought, all his previous sins will be forgiven.\u201d<\/em><br data-start=\"2658\" data-end=\"2661\" \/><em data-start=\"2663\" data-end=\"2677\">(Al-Bukhari)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2679\" data-end=\"2787\">True prayer is a farewell\u2014<strong data-start=\"2705\" data-end=\"2721\">to the dunya<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"2723\" data-end=\"2737\">to our ego<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"2739\" data-end=\"2762\">to our distractions<\/strong>. As the Prophet advised:<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"2789\" data-end=\"2851\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2791\" data-end=\"2851\"><em data-start=\"2791\" data-end=\"2831\">\u201cPray as if you are bidding farewell.\u201d<\/em><br data-start=\"2831\" data-end=\"2834\" \/><em data-start=\"2836\" data-end=\"2851\">(At-Tirmidhi)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<hr class=\"\" data-start=\"2853\" data-end=\"2856\" \/>\n<h2 class=\"\" data-start=\"2858\" data-end=\"2897\"><strong data-start=\"2861\" data-end=\"2897\">Conclusion: Sujood Is the Summit<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2899\" data-end=\"3033\">In this life of distractions, sujood offers stillness. In a world of ego, it offers humility. In moments of darkness, it offers light.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3035\" data-end=\"3222\">Let us return to the sujood with new eyes and revived hearts. For in that position lies <strong data-start=\"3123\" data-end=\"3153\">the truest form of freedom<\/strong>\u2014freedom from sin, from arrogance, and from the burden of this world.<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"3224\" data-end=\"3340\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3226\" data-end=\"3340\"><em data-start=\"3226\" data-end=\"3315\">\u201cO man!
