The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: \u201cDo not feel happy about your brother\u2019s grief, it might be that Allah will show mercy to him and put you through a trial.\u201d (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.the-faith.com\/featured-posts\/at-tirmidhi-imam-of-hadith-and-fiqh\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">At-Tirmidhi<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p><strong>20-<\/strong> Islam forbids Muslims from interfering in affairs which do not concern them. The Prophet said: \u201cIndeed from the good traits of a true Muslim is that he leaves that which does not concern him.\u201d (At-Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah)<\/p>\n<p><strong>21-<\/strong> Islam commands respecting people and forbids debasing them and holding them in contempt. Allah says:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><strong>\u201cO you who have believed, let not a people ridicule [another] people; perhaps they may be better than them; nor let women ridicule [other] women; perhaps they may be better than them. And do not insult one another and do not call each other by [offensive] nicknames. Wretched is the name of disobedience after [one\u2019s] faith. And whoever does not repent &#8211; then it is those who are the wrongdoers.\u201d<\/strong> (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.quran.49\/11\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Quran 49:11<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p><strong>22<\/strong>&#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.islam.com.kw\/what-is-islam\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Islam<\/a> commands one to jealously protect and guard one\u2019s <em>maharim<\/em> (those relatives who are forbidden for a person to marry due to their closeness in blood relations, like mothers, sisters, aunts, daughters, etc. imitate men), and it forbids that the person is not protective of his relatives and turns a blind eye to their promiscuity. The Prophet said: \u201cThree will not enter Jannah: one who maltreats his parents, a cuckold (<em>Dayyouth<\/em>) and women who act like men.\u201d (An-Nasa&#8217;i)<\/p>\n<p><strong>23-<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.the-faith.com\/my-journey-to-islam\/american-jewish-converted-islam\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Islam<\/a> prohibits resembling members of the opposite sex. Ibn Abbas said: The Messenger of Allah cursed those men who imitate women and those women who imitate men. (Al-Bukhari)<\/p>\n<p><strong>24-<\/strong> Islam commands that people exert efforts in doing good to others, and it forbids that they remind them of their favors upon them. Allah says: <strong>\u201cO you who believe! Do not render in vain your charity by reminders of your generosity or by injury.\u201d<\/strong>(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.quran.com\/2\/264\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Quran 2:264<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p><strong>25-<\/strong> Islam commands thinking good about others, and it forbids suspicion and backbiting. Allah says: <strong>\u201cO you who have believed, avoid much [negative] assumption. Indeed, some assumption is sin. And do not spy or backbite each other. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his brother when dead? You would detest it. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is Accepting of repentance and Merciful.\u201d<\/strong> (Quran 49:12)<\/p>\n<p><strong>26-<\/strong> Islam commands that one guards his tongue from all evil talk, and that he uses it for good and beneficial things which would benefit himself and his society; such as remembering Allah, and reconciliation between people. Likewise, it forbids the individual to use it in evil.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.the-faith.com\/prophet-muhammad\/prophet-legacy\/health-and-free-time-in-the-eyes-of-the-prophet-muhammad\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Prophet <\/a>said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAre people thrown into the Hellfire on their faces or noses except for what their tongues have reaped?\u201d (At-Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah)<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Treating the Neighbors Well<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong>27-<\/strong> Islam commands well-treatment of the neighbor and forbids harming them. The Prophet said: \u201cBy Allah, he is not a true believer! By Allah, he is not a true believer! By Allah, he is not a true believer!\u201d It was said, \u201cWho is that, O Messenger of Allah?\u201d He replied, \u201cHe whose neighbor is not safe from his evil.\u201d (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.the-faith.com\/islamic-history\/muslim-figures\/albukhari-the-imam-of-hadith-and-sunnah\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Al-Bukhari<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p><strong>28-<\/strong> Islam commands that one seeks righteous companions and forbids that one seek evil companions. The Prophet said: \u201cThe example of a righteous and evil companion is like one who carries perfume and another who is a blacksmith. As for the one who carries perfume, he will either give you some perfume, you might buy some, or [at least] you will find a pleasing scent whilst with him. As for the blacksmith, either he will burn your clothes, or you will find a hideous odor from him.\u201d (Al-Bukhari and Muslim)<\/p>\n<p><strong>29-<\/strong> Islam orders people to settle their disputes and prohibits anything which leads to enmity and hatred. Allah says:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><strong>\u201cNo good is there in much of their private conversation, except for those who enjoin charity or that which is right or conciliation between people. And whoever does that seeking means to the approval of Allah &#8211; then We are going to give him a great reward.\u201d<\/strong> Quran 4:114)<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.the-faith.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/What-Are-the-Commandments-of-Islam-Part-2-.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-11259\" src=\"https:\/\/www.the-faith.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/What-Are-the-Commandments-of-Islam-Part-2--300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a>30<\/strong>&#8211; Islam orders that people be sincere to each other [by giving good advice] and forbids that advice be withheld when it is sought. The Prophet said: \u201cThe religion is sincerity and advice.\u201d We asked, \u201cTo whom?\u201d He replied, \u201c[Sincerity] to Allah, to His Book, to His Messenger, and [sincere advice] to the leaders of the Muslims and their general folk.\u201d (Muslim)<\/p>\n<p><strong>31-<\/strong> Islam orders people to help relieve the worries of others around them, to give them respite (in paying back debts) and to conceal their faults. The Prophet said: \u201cWhoever relieves some worry of a believer, Allah will relieve a worry of his on the Day of Judgment. Whoever makes things easy for one in times of hardship [by giving respite to one who is not able to pay back a debt] Allah will make things easy upon him in this life and the next. And whoever conceals the faults of a Muslim, Allah will conceal his faults in this life and in the Hereafter. Allah helps his slave as long as he helps his brother.\u201d (Muslim)<br \/>\n<strong>32-<\/strong> Islam orders one to have patience and fortitude in times of hardships, and forbids that one become worried and discontent. Allah says:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><strong>\u201cAnd certainly, We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient. Who, when disaster strikes them, say, \u2018Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.\u2019 Those are the ones upon whom are blessings from their Lord and mercy. And it is those who are the [rightly] guided.\u201d<\/strong> (Quran 2:155-157)<\/p>\n<p><strong>33-<\/strong> Islam orders one to forgive, pardon, and turn away from one who does evil to him, and forbids that one seek revenge and retribution. Allah says:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd hasten to forgiveness from your Lord and a garden as wide as the heavens and earth, prepared for the righteous. Who spend [in the cause of Allah] during ease and hardship and who restrain anger and who pardon the people &#8211; and Allah loves the doers of good.\u201d (Quran 3:133-134)<\/p>\n<p><strong>34-<\/strong> Islam commands mercy and it forbids cold-heartedness. The Prophet said: \u201cAllah shows mercy to those who show mercy. Show mercy to those on earth, and Allah will be merciful to you.\u201d (Abu Dawood and At-Tirmidhi)<\/p>\n<p><strong>35-<\/strong> Islam commands people to be kind and lenient to each other, and it forbids harshness. The Prophet said: \u201cNothing is done with kindness except that it is beautified, and nothing is devoid of kindness except that it is flawed.\u201d (Muslim)<\/p>\n<p><strong>36-<\/strong> Islam commands one to return evil with good, and forbids one to reciprocate evil with evil. Allah says:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><strong>\u201cRepel [evil] by that [deed] which is better; and thereupon the one whom between you and him is enmity [will become] as though he was a devoted friend.\u201d<\/strong> (Quran 41:34)<\/p>\n<p><strong>37-<\/strong> Islam commands the spreading of knowledge and forbids concealing it. The Prophet said: \u201cWhoever was asked about knowledge but conceals it, he will be brought on the Day of Resurrection muzzled with the leashes of Hellfire.\u201d (Abu Dawood and At-Tirmidhi)<\/p>\n<p><strong>38-<\/strong> Islam commands that Muslims enjoin virtue and righteousness and prevent evil and vice, each according to his ability.
