We read:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><strong>And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as a mercy to the worlds.<\/strong> (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.quran.com\/21\/107\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Quran 21:107<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.the-faith.com\/prophet-muhammad\/prophet-manners\/loving-the-prophet-muhammad\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Prophet Muhammad<\/a> was given many names both by the people and by Allah Himself.<\/p>\n<p>Jubair ibn Mut`im reported on the authority of his father that he heard Allah&#8217;s Messenger as saying:<\/p>\n<p>I have many names: I am Muhammad, I am Ahmad, I am <em>al-Mahi<\/em> through whom Allah obliterates unbelief, and I am <em>Hashir<\/em> (the gatherer) at whose feet people will be gathered, and I am <em>&#8216;Aqib<\/em> (after whom there would be none), and Allah has named him as compassionate and merciful. (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sunnah.com\/muslim\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Muslim<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>In another narration, we read:<\/p>\n<p>Malik related to me from Ibn Shihab from Muhammad ibn Jubayr ibn Mut`im that the Prophet said, &#8220;I have five names. I am Muhammad. I am Ahmad. I am <em>al-Mahi<\/em> (the effacer), by whom Allah effaces disbeleif. I am <em>al-Hashir<\/em> (the gatherer), before whom people are gathered.
