Is it permissible to make supplication (<em>du`a&#8217;<\/em>) while offering <em>Sujud At-Tilawah<\/em> (prostration of recitation) or prostration of thankfulness (<em>Sujud Ash-Shukr<\/em>)?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;font-size: 14pt;color: #800080\"><strong>Answer:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;font-size: 14pt\">In the name of Allah, we praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;font-size: 14pt\"><em>Sujud Ash-Shukr<\/em> is a prostration which is performed for Allah, in order to show <em>Shukr<\/em> (thanks and gratitude) to Him for a specific blessing. It is offered when Allah removes a calamity or gives a blessing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;font-size: 14pt\">Sa`d ibn Abu Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: We left Makkah with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) for <em>Al-Madinah<\/em>, and when we were near &#8216;Azwara,&#8217; (peace be upon him) he alighted (from his riding-camel) raised his hands in supplication to Allah for a while and prostrated himself. He remained for a long time in prostration. Then he stood up and raised his hands for a while, after which he prostrated himself (again), and remained for a long time in prostration. Then he stood up and raised his hands for a while, after which he prostrated himself for the third time. Then he (peace be upon him) said, &#8220;I supplicated my <em>Rubb<\/em> and made intercession for my <em>Ummah<\/em>, and He granted me one-third of them. So I again prostrated myself in gratitude to my <em>Rubb<\/em>. Then I raised my head and supplicated my <em>Rubb<\/em> for my <em>Ummah<\/em>, and He granted me another third of them. Again I raised my head and supplicated my <em>Rubb<\/em> for my <em>Ummah<\/em> and He granted me the last third of them.
