{"id":16278,"date":"2026-05-05T05:37:12","date_gmt":"2026-05-05T05:37:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/imuslim.us\/?p=16278"},"modified":"2026-05-05T05:37:12","modified_gmt":"2026-05-05T05:37:12","slug":"character-assassination","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/imuslim.us\/?p=16278","title":{"rendered":"Character Assassination"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In this short talk, Sheikh Nouman Khan reflects on some verses from Surat <a title=\"Recitation of Surat Al-Humazah\" href=\"http:\/\/www.learning-quran.com\/quran-translations\/en-translation\/al-ajmi-al-ghamidi-and-al-lahuni\/recitation-surat-al-humazah-2\/\">Al-Humazah <\/a>(the 104<sup>th<\/sup> Chapter of the Qur\u2019an which was revealed in the early stages of Islam when people were just accepting this new religion) to explain how the good character could be assassinated.<\/p>\n<p>Sheikh Nouman begins his talk by narrating the <em>hadith<\/em> of Ibn `Abbass (may Allah be pleased with him) when Abu Aljauza\u2019 asked him, \u201cwho are those people whom Allah condemns with <em>\u2018wayl\u2019<\/em>\u201d. Ibn `Abbas answered, \u201cThose are the people who uncover secrets and disclose that which it is not appropriate to be disclosed, those who cause divisions between those who love each other, and those who constantly describe people with flaws.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Then, he talks about the meaning of the original Arabic words <em>humazah <\/em>and \u00a0<em>lumazah<\/em> which are almost interchangeable in how they are used.
