Learn how to correct your recitation of the Qur’an\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Almighty Allah says:<\/p>\n

\u2026and recite the Qur’an with measured recitation. <\/strong>(Al-Muzzammil <\/a>73:4)<\/p>\n

In another verse:<\/p>\n

Those to whom We have given the Book recite it with its true recital. They [are the ones who] believe in it. <\/strong>(Al-Baqarah<\/a> 2:121)<\/p>\n

Welcome to a new interesting episode of \u201cCorrect Your Recitation\u201d series with Sheikh Muhammad Salah and his guests. First Sheikh Isma`il recites the full surahs<\/em> of Al-`Asr<\/em> (the Declining Day), Al-Humazah<\/em> (the Traducer) and Al-Fil<\/em> (the Elephant). Surat Al-`Asr<\/em> is the 103rd<\/sup> chapter of the Qur\u2019an with three verses. It is a Makki surah<\/em> that explains the way to success and the way to ruin. Imam Ash-Shaf`i said, \u201cIf people considered this surah<\/em> well, it will be sufficient in the way of guidance.\u201d This surah<\/em> advises those who believe to act collectively to strengthen their position in the Hereafter.\u00a0It implies asking and inviting people to do righteous deeds and stopping them from falling into sin and disbelief.<\/p>\n

Surat Al-Humazah<\/em> is the 104th<\/sup> chapter of the Qur\u2019an with nine verses. It is a Makki surah<\/em> that sheds some light on the importance of restraining one\u2019s tongue. The surah <\/em>also explains the evils of preoccupying oneself with worldly wealth. Surat Al-Fil<\/em> is the 105th<\/sup> chapter of the Qur\u2019an with five verses. It was revealed at the early era of mission in Makkah. It is a clear example of Allah\u2019s protection for His House (Al-Ka`bah<\/em>) by destroying the Abyssinian army that came from Yemen with great elephants, through a flock of birds.<\/p>\n

As usual Dr. Muhammad Salah begins his talk by reflecting on the meanings of the surahs<\/em>. He narrates the following hadith<\/em>,<\/p>\n

It was narrated that Abu Madeenah Al-Darimi said: When two men among the companions of the Prophet (peace be upon him) met, they did not part until one of them recited to the other: \u201cBy Al<\/em>-`<\/em>Asr<\/em> (the time). Verily, man is in loss\u201d (Al-\u2018Asr<\/em>), then one would say salam<\/em> to (greet) the other. (Abu Dawud)<\/p>\n
