Learn to correct your Recitation of the Qur’an\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Almighty Allah says:<\/p>\n

\u2026and recite the Qur’an with measured recitation. <\/strong>(Al-Muzzammil<\/a> 73:4)<\/p>\n

In another verse:<\/p>\n

Those to whom We have given the Book recite it with its true recital. They [are the ones who] believe in it. <\/strong>(Al-Baqarah<\/a> 2:121)<\/p>\n

Welcome to a new interesting episode of \u201cCorrect Your Recitation\u201d series with Sheikh Muhammad Salah and his guests. First Sheikh Isma`il recites the full surahs<\/em> of At-Takathur (the Rivalry Competition), Al-`Asr (the Declining Day) and Al-Humazah (the Traducer). Surat At-Takathur<\/em> is the 102nd<\/sup> chapter of the Qur\u2019an with eight verses. It was revealed in Makkah. <\/em>The surah<\/em> warns those who spend their lives in acquiring more and more of worldly wealth, pleasures, position, and power till their death. Surat Al-`Asr<\/em> is the 103rd<\/sup> chapter of the Qur\u2019an with three verses. It is a Makkai surah<\/em> that explains the way to success and the way to ruin. Imam Ash-Shaf`i said, \u201cIf people considered this surah<\/em> well it will be sufficient in the way of guidance.\u201d This surah<\/em> advises those who believe to act collectively to strengthen their position in the Hereafter.\u00a0 It implies asking and inviting people to do righteous deeds and stopping them from falling into sin and disbelief.<\/p>\n

Surat Al-Humazah<\/em> is the 104th<\/sup> chapter of the Qur\u2019an with nine verses. It is a Makki surah<\/em> that sheds some light on the importance of restraining one\u2019s tongue. The surah <\/em>also explains the evils of preoccupying oneself with worldly wealth.<\/p>\n

As usual Dr. Muhammad Salah begins his talk by reflecting on the meanings of the surahs<\/em>. He narrates the following hadith<\/em>,<\/p>\n

Mutarrif narrated on the authority of his father, I came to Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) as he was reciting:” Abundance diverts you”. He said: The son of Adam claims: My wealth, my wealth. And he (the Prophet) said: O son of Adam is there anything as your belonging except that which you consumed which you utilized, or which you wore and then it was worn out or you gave as charity and sent it forward?<\/p>\n
