{"id":1330,"date":"2025-09-23T10:37:31","date_gmt":"2025-09-23T10:37:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/imuslim.us\/?p=1330"},"modified":"2025-09-23T10:37:31","modified_gmt":"2025-09-23T10:37:31","slug":"sonship-jesus-quran","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/imuslim.us\/?p=1330","title":{"rendered":"Jesus in the Qur\u2019an"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In this short talk, Sheikh Nouman Khan makes a simple comparison between two verses from <i>Surat<\/i> <a title=\"Recitation of Surat As-Saffat\" href=\"http:\/\/www.learning-quran.com\/quran-translations\/en-translation\/al-ajmi-al-ghamidi-and-al-lahuni\/recitation-surat-as-saffat-3\/\">As-Saff<\/a> (the 61<sup>st<\/sup> Chapter of the Qur\u2019an) to differentiate between the Qur\u2019anic address to the children of Israel on the tongue of the Prophets <a title=\"Prophet Moses\" href=\"http:\/\/www.lastmiracle.com\/prophet-moses\/\">Moses<\/a> and <a title=\"The Status of Jesus in Islam\" href=\"http:\/\/www.lastmiracle.com\/status-jesus-islam\/\">Jesus <\/a>(peace be upon them).<\/p>\n<p>In the first verse, Almighty Allah says on the tongue of Prophet Moses:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;padding-right: 30px\"><strong>When Moses said to his nation, \u2018My Nation\u2019\u2026 <\/strong>(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.learning-quran.com\/quran-translations\/en-translation\/mishari-bin-rashid\/recitation-surat-as-saffat\/\">As-Saff<\/a> 61:5)<\/p>\n<p>It is noticed that Moses (peace be upon him) addressed his people with \u2018My Nation\u2019. But let us see how Jesus Christ (peace be upon him) addressed them in the following verse:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;padding-right: 30px\"><strong>When Jesus, son of Mary, said, \u2018 Sons of Israel\u2019\u2026<\/strong> (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.learning-quran.com\/quran-translations\/en-translation\/mishari-bin-rashid\/recitation-surat-as-saffat\/\">As-Saff<\/a> 61:6)<\/p>\n<p>Unlike Moses, Jesus used to say, \u2018Sons of Israel\u2019. It is well known that \u2018Sons of Israel\u2019 is another term used for the \u2018Israelites\u2019 or \u2018the children of Israel\u2019. In Arabic tradition, identity belongs to the father. So, their identity was named after their father Israel.<\/p>\n<p>It is clear that to be from a nation, your father should be from that nation. So, when Moses says, \u2018My Nation\u2019, it means that his father is from that nation. On the other hand, we never find in the Qur\u2019an that Jesus has said, \u2018my nation\u2019. Every time he addresses them with \u2018son of Israel\u2019 because Jesus has no father as he is of a miraculous birth of the <a title=\"Mary: Mother of Jesus\" href=\"http:\/\/www.lastmiracle.com\/mary-mother-of-jesus\/\">Virgin Mary<\/a>.
