Friday <em>Khutbah<\/em> aims to remind the Muslims of their responsibilities, enjoin good and warn against evil. For this purpose to be achieved, it should be in the language of the people to whom it is delivered, otherwise it will be a mere formality and fail to achieve its purpose.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;font-size: 14pt\">Sheikh Ibn `Uthaimeen (may Allah have mercy on him) said: &#8220;The correct view with regard to this matter is that it is permissible for the imam to deliver the <em>khutbah<\/em> in a language that the people present understand, if the people present are not Arabs and do not know Arabic. He may deliver the <em>khutbah<\/em> in their language, because that is the means of explaining to them, and the purpose of the <em>khutbah<\/em> is to explain the sacred limits of Allah to His slaves, and exhort them, and guide them.
