Almighty Allah says:<\/p>\n

And your Lord has decreed that you not worship except Him, and to parents, good treatment.<\/strong> (Al-Israa\u2019<\/a> 17:23)<\/p>\n

In this short talk, Sheikh Abdul Nasir Jangda talks about the status of the parents in Islam and how the Qur\u2019an and the Sunnah<\/i> of the Prophet (peace be upon him) stress on being kind and good to one\u2019s parents.<\/p>\n

Sheikh Abdul Nasir begins his talk by defining the word \u2018birr\u2019<\/i> (the highest level of piety) which has been mentioned many times in the Qur\u2019an and always has a close connection with parents.<\/p>\n

Islam teaches us that respect for parents comes immediately after fulfilling our responsibilities in connection to obeying Allah. It was narrated that `Abdullah ibn Mas`ud said, \u201cI asked the Prophet, ‘Which deed is loved most by Allah?” He replied, ‘To offer prayers at their early (very first) stated times.'” `Abdullah asked, “What is the next (in goodness)?” The Prophet said, “To be good and dutiful to one\u2019s parents,” `Abdullah asked, “What is the next (in goodness)?” The Prophet said, To participate in Jihad for Allah’s Cause.” `Abdullah added, “The Prophet narrated to me these three things, and if I had asked more, he would have told me more.” (Al-Bukhari)<\/p>\n

Then, he mentions some advice to the parents when raising their children and how to train them on being good and kind to their parents when they grow up.<\/p>\n
