{"id":12321,"date":"2026-01-31T05:37:32","date_gmt":"2026-01-31T05:37:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/imuslim.us\/?p=12321"},"modified":"2026-01-31T05:37:32","modified_gmt":"2026-01-31T05:37:32","slug":"5-things-you-should-know-about-hajj","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/imuslim.us\/?p=12321","title":{"rendered":"5 Things You Should Know About Hajj: What Are They?"},"content":{"rendered":"<pre><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>By Dr. Mohsen Haredy\r\n\r\n<\/strong><\/span><\/pre>\n<p>Those who do not know much about the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.the-faith.com\/acts-of-worship\/hajj\/pilgrimage-the-journey-of-different-religions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Muslim Hajj<\/a>, we will try to brief them on the basic information about it in the following lines:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<div id=\"attachment_9620\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.the-faith.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/5-Things-You-Should-Know-About-Hajj.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9620\" class=\"wp-image-9620 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.the-faith.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/5-Things-You-Should-Know-About-Hajj-300x201.jpg?resize=300%2C201\" alt=\"5 Things You Should Know About Hajj\" width=\"300\" height=\"201\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-9620\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Pilgrimage (hajj) is one the five pillars of Islam.<\/p><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.the-faith.com\/featured-posts\/loving-the-prophet-muhammad\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Prophet Muhammad<\/a> (peace be upon him) is reported have said: &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.the-faith.com\/featured-posts\/islam-wrong-women\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Islam<\/a> is built on five (pillars): Testimony that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, establishing Prayer, giving Zakah, Hajj, and fasting Ramadan.&#8221; (An-Nasa&#8217;i)<\/li>\n<li>Hajj is obligatory on every Muslim who is financially and physically able to perform it.<\/li>\n<li>Hajj is obligatory once in a lifetime.<\/li>\n<li>Muslims make hajj in commemoration of the trials of Prophet <a href=\"http:\/\/www.the-faith.com\/featured-posts\/story-prophet-ibrahim\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Abraham<\/a> (Ibrahim, peace be upon him) and his family in\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.new-muslims.info\/acts-of-worship\/hajj-pilgrimage\/hajj\/\">Mecca<\/a>, which included Abraham\u2019s willingness to sacrifice his son Ishmael in response to God\u2019s command.<\/li>\n<li>The rituals of hajj include the following:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>Entering the state of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ihram\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ihram<\/a> at certain places appointed to each country.<\/li>\n<li>Circulating the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Kabah\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kabah<\/a> seven times,<\/li>\n<li>Walking between the Mountains of As-Safa and Al-Marwah seven times.<\/li>\n<li>On Dhul-Hijjah 8, pilgrims gather in Mina, outside Mecca, and spend the night there.<\/li>\n<li>Early the following morning, pilgrims head to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.the-faith.com\/featured-posts\/excellence-of-the-day-of-arafah\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Arafah<\/a>, where they spend the day praying for God&#8217;s forgiveness.<\/li>\n<li>After sunset, pilgrims move on to Muzdalifah, where they spend the night, then they head back to Mina.<\/li>\n<li>On Dhul-Hijjah 10, Muslims celebrate the<a href=\"http:\/\/www.the-faith.com\/featured-posts\/etiquettes-and-rulings-of-eid-al-adha\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Eid al-Adha<\/a>. Many pilgrim would have made arrangements to sacrifice a sheep on that day. They also cut or shave their hair.
