In this short talk, Sheikh Abu Mussab Wajdi refutes the misconception that the compilation of the Qur’an<\/a> is Bid`ah (innovation in religion).<\/b><\/p>\n

He begins his talk by answering the question that many raise regarding the compilation of the Qur’an that is, why is it collected in one mushaf<\/i> while the Prophet (peace be upon him) did not do that, is not this Bid`ah<\/i>? [Start time: 00:40]<\/p>\n

He summarized the answer in the following points:<\/p>\n

First:<\/b> \u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri reported that Allah’s Messenger<\/a> (Peace be upon him) said:<\/p>\n

“Do not take down anything from me, and he who took down anything from me except the Qur’an, he should erase that\u2026” (Muslim)<\/p>\n

The Qur’an was first collected and written down during the time of the Prophet so this is not an innovation. [Start time 00:00-1:23]<\/p>\n

Second:<\/b><\/p>\n

It is a fulfillment of Allah’s Promise as He says in the Qur’an:<\/p>\n

Indeed, upon Us is its collection [in your heart] and [to make possible] its recitation. <\/strong>(Al-Qiyamah<\/a> 75:17)<\/p>\n

Third: <\/b><\/p>\n

The Companions of the Prophet (may Allah be pleased with them) agreed upon that. This is evidence that it is not an innovation. [Start time 2:00-54]<\/p>\n

Fourth:\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

The compilation of the Qur’an could not have been done during the lifetime of the Prophet (peace be upon him) as the Qur\u2019an was still revealed, and some ayat<\/i> (verses) would abrogate the others. [03:26s ]<\/p>\n
